EP EEP-ED GROUP BUREAU STATEMENT ON THE GREEN PAPER ON CONSUMER COLLECTIVE REDRESS

EP

In the context of the ongoing discussion on consumer collective redress, the European People's Party of the European Parliament adopted a statement on this issue. A copy of this statement, which has been sent to Commissioner Kuneva and President Barroso, is at annex. Even though the European Parliament will not give a response to the Green Paper (they leave it for the next Parliament), the EPP has decided to make its views known to the European Commission. EPP statement rejects Option 4 (legislation introducing an EU collective action) and supports a mix of solutions.

This is in broad alignment with companies position particularly regarding opposition to an EU judicial action and promotion of ADRs.
